The Wright Biography
Note

Books speak for themselves, but often not loud enough to get our attention. We hope to point you in the direction of a few good reads that don't make it to the airport bookshop, the offerings of small presses( and big ones too) that say something about who we are as a poeple, whether we live in Iceland or Afghanistan.

Books promote understanding and dialog with those on the otherside of our comfort zone, beyond the ideological divide.

The poets say that it all started with the word---but why stop there? You're invited to get to the know the thoughts behind the work, as well as the people who wrote them.

Livre de Fesses

Presence Africaine

Established in 1947, this institution has done more to erase the slander of referring to Africa as the dark continent than any individual or army. It's has been the voice of Africa on the European continent for more that 50 years, and continues to bring the works of emerging writers to the attention of a self-centered
world. It also brought those voices from distant shores back home to Africa: The works of Richard Wright, Claude MacKay and Frantz Fanon were published early on by Presence Africaine. With the death of it founder, Alieuneno Diop, the administration of this dual publishing house and bookstore was assumed by Christiane Yande Diop. The tradition lives on.
